Abstract
Effect of combustion chamber shape on mixture strength near spark plug gap location of an electronic fuel injection single-cylinder engine was studied concerning lean-burn behavior of dual spark plug operation. The combustion chamber shapes, disk, heron, and peculiar shape (8 shape) were adopted and the mixture strength was measured using a gas sampling technique with an oxygen sensor. The experimental results show that fuel injection timing influences the mixture strength remarkably with heron and hardly with peculiar shape. The combustion chamber effect on the mixture strength almost agrees with that on lean-burn behavior.
