Particulate Regeneration Improvement on Actual Vehicle Under Various Conditions

The performance of an electrically heated regenerative particulate trap has been assessed on a class 3 truck over a range of engine operating conditions. The results show that particulate loading, distribution, air flow rate through the trap and trap inlet temperature are important parameters influencing the trap's efficiency, and that bypassing the engine's exhaust through a parallel system during regeneration is essential for efficient operations
