A significant share of the market is more and more interested in high performance cars, but, at the same time, it is not willing to give up driving enjoyment in all conditions and reasonable fuel economy. The twin spark engine, newest expression of the Alfa Romeo 4 cylinder twin cam family, has been defined with the aim of complying with both of these generally contrasting needs. An accurate design, a thorough development and the use of the most sophisticated electronic control system, lead to very interesting results with the introduction of highly innovative solutions, some of which are world wide unique features, as the twin ignition system and variable valve timing.
