Abstract
The impressed torque control configuration for hydrostatic transmissions, functions on the basis that the torque developed is proportional to the stroke, as determined by the swash plate angle. However, there are potential problems of stability and sensitivity to Coulomb friction effects, when the stroke control is part of a servo feedback loop.
The paper discusses the second of these problem areas, initially using a Bondgraph simulation and then by experimental testing on a commercially available system.
