Abstract
A mechanical, long life refrigerator which can replace stored cryogens and low temperature radiators in the 60-110K. range is presented. The growth of a cooler system from a single unit will inevitably require additional hardware such as thermal switches, and techniques for reducing mechanical noise. Initial development work for a compatible thermal switch is discussed, and the results of preliminary practical analyses to characterise the induced vibrations from single and dual cooler are presented.
