Abstract
Motorcycle operation is accompanied by vibration, having an unpleasant effect on the vehicle and driver and/or pillion rider. Long term and in some instances short term action of vibration on persons has an adverse effect on road safety. It is transmitted to the person in the places of a person's contact with the vehicle, i.e. by handlebars, footrests and saddle. In the paper is described a vibration measurement laboratory method developed in Czechoslovakia and used by JAWA. On the basis of results of vibration measurement on many motorcycles of different construction and engine capacity presented is the experience concerning measurement methods, vehicles and their users. Measurement and evaluation of vehicle vibration acting on the user is a complex problem requiring particular attention.
