Research and Application of Brush Plating in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Production in China

Abstract
The paper presents a brief introduction to the principle of brush plating and states its advantages as a maintenance technology over others. Its applications in motor vehicle maintenance and production are discussed in detail, the experiences an achievements of research work of this technology in China are also offered. Brush plating technology has been successfully used in repairing worn out parts of imported motor vehicles which are in short supply and used on the spot to recover failed parts in time. The auto parts which can be repaired by brush plating are listed, including crankshaft, steering knuckle, rear axle shaft casing, transmission case etc. and the economic casing, transmission case etc. and the economic benefit is obvious. In auto works, brush plating is used to recover machined work pieces with dimensions exceeding allowable limits and to repair machine tools, it is also applied to die sets to prolong their service life. Ferroalloy brush plating technology and sandwich technology and brush plating and brazing have been developed with great economic benefit to the users.
