Abstract
This paper is to report how a new cylinder seal for rack and pinion type power steering has been developed by changing oil seal production process and geometry of the seal which provides complete sealing of high pressure hydraulic fluid with low frictional force maintaining long sealing service life. This paper includes its seal characteristics.
Along with the current demand on quietness with in the vehicles, the authors could experimentally evaluate unpleasant noises from cylinder seals under resonance effects with the car body by using f-G property. Its procedure will be described here.
