Abstract
The new Audi V8 incorporates a wide range of “high-tech” features.
The highly developed brake system sets new standards in performance, stability when driving and braking and user convenience.
A particular new feature is the disc brake with internally located caliper.
The systematic application of the very latest computing, development and manufacturing methods has enabled a forward-looking disc brake concept to be realised.
By virtue of the inverted relative positions of the disc and the brake caliper (the latter being mounted radially on the inside rather than the outside), the entire space inside the wheel rim can be used for the brake disc.
This means a 13% increase in effective rubbed-area radius and a 17% enlargement of the annular rubbed area with no increase in wheel diameter.
