Abstract
The increasing number of individual control microprocessors in modern vehicles provides a new opportunity to automotive engineers to develop new control systems relying on interaction between these individual systems. Anti-spin control is one such new control system which relies on interaction between the powertrain and anti-lock braking microprocessors.
Anti spin control (or traction control) is aimed at achieving improvements in vehicle stability by the control of wheel spin on low or split coefficient of friction surfaces whilst accelerating. The system is analagous to the operation of anti-lock brakes during braking.
As the system controls dynamic powertrain torque a system computer model has been produced and used to develop the control system. This paper describes the analysis and development of this control system
