Abstract
With the advancements in materials technology, along with much needed research, the state of the art of clutch release systems has made significant strides in the last ten years. This paper describes those advancements, and presents a historical overview of the major developments in clutch release system technology. Covered in this paper is not only the clutch release bearing, but also the components with which the clutch release bearing interfaces - these would include the actuation lever/ the guiding tube as well as what research tells us about the design of these components. This paper attempts to pull all these components together into a working system and explains how the individual design features of a component affect the interfacing components within the system.
