Abstract
This paper describes the hardware configuration and the flexibility and generality of the software designed for supporting the performance evaluation of vehicle components under a wide range of extreme environmental conditions. This also exemplifies how computers can increase human productivity by performing the tedious but important task of data collection, and accurate and consistent detection of certain critical test events. The computer system provides the capability of accurate detection and recording of all important test events, variables, and parameters. It frees the test driver for subjective evaluation of the vehicle performance. In addition, it provides the capability of repeating a test under identical conditions.
