Abstract
A new liquid crystal display (LCD) which realizes very high contrast is proposed. The very high contrast LCD (VHC) is based on 3 technologies; light-shielding black mask, the positive mode TN structure and a reversed driving method.
The VHC has many advantages; very high contrast, bright display which is suitable for the transflective mode, small angular dependence of the display color and fast switching speed. It is hoped to renew images of automotive LCDs.
