Abstract
Recent developments in the application of silicate coatings on galvanized brake strand overcoated with an environmental stress crack resistant polymer are extending the life of parking brake cables beyond the new ten year/100,000 mile requirement. The significance of this research is the utilization of novel and cost effective materials to create durable and high performance parking brake cable systems.
