Abstract
The state-of-the-art of high-pressure piping flexjoints and high load bearings based on laminated rubber technology is discussed. A variety of specific designs now in service for marine and offshore uses are described. The design and analysis methodology, structural and elastomeric material selection criteria, test and use data representing sixteen years of service are reviewed. World-wide certification agency acceptance status is presented. Development efforts to expand elastomer technology to new marine equipment applications are described.
