Abstract
The Swedish parliament recently adopted a law on exhaust emissions from automotive sources. A responsibility is put on the vehicle manufacturers for vehicles to conform with the standards, even for vehicles in use. Standards, following the present federal US standards, will go into effect with the 1989 model year. Standards for other vehicle categories will follow. At first there will be requirements on light-duty and heavy-duty trucks. This spring will proposals be presented to the Swedish Government to decide upon.
