Abstract
New high standards for noise and vibration (NV) road surface test tracks must be implemented to take proper advantage of improved quantitative test methods and instrumentation. Some technical areas of consideration for the test track standards include surface types, layout, simplicity, roughness, dependency, length, consistency, adjustability, separability, repeatability, reproducibility and location. The track standards must also consider compatibility with the digital signal processing parameters of modern electronic instrumentation. This paper intends to describe the general requirements for a modern NV road surface test track.
