Abstract
This paper examines the need, use, and development of headliner substrates meeting engineering, acoustical, aesthetic, and economic requirements of the automobile market. The effects of various headliner constructions on reducing interior noise level is discussed along with a method to measure noise level. Also, there is a discussion on the other critical parameters needed in a headliner substrate.
