Abstract
A new type of hydraulic torque converter has been developed which shows considerable promise for drivelines in mobile equipment. Coreless members and flat angular blades in impeller and turbine offer relatively low cost manufacturing and assembly methods. The stalltorque ratio is smaller in comparison with the common three element torque converters. The capacity constant is approximately double, which enables a smaller coverter diameter selection by approximately 15-20%.
