Theory, Design, and Performance Characteristics of a Direct-Reading Portable Solid Contaminant Analyzer

Abstract
This paper describes a convenient handheld quantitative device and procedure for obtaining a direct contamination reading for hydraulic and lubrication fluids in the field. The device probes directly onto pressurized equipment enabling live system sampling under turbulent conditions. Theory and operation of the device will be described.
