Abstract
A multipass test bench was used to illustrate the effects of variable flow on particle retention and provide a non-mathematical picture of this complex phenomenon. The relative influence of the duty cycle, the amount of dirt in the element, and the efficiency and physical makeup of the media provide a qualitative understanding of field performance.
