Abstract
Multi-microprocessor systems are becoming more prominent in new vehicle and construction equipment applications. Recommended practices are being developed by SAE for serial data communications between microprocessor systems in heavy duty vehicle applications. These recommended practices have potential applications for on and off highway vehicles, construction, agriculture, mining, marine, industrial and aircraft ground support equipment.
This paper reviews proposed recommended practices being developed for heavy duty vehicle applications and provides information for off highway applications.
