Abstract
A new type of a zinc coating line in which a zinc vapor is continuously deposited on to a steel strip in a vacuum has been installed at the Hanshin Works of Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd., Japan. The quality of the product made by the Z.V.D. (Zinc Vapor Deposition) method compares favorably to the E.G. (Electrolytically Galvanized) method and has the added features of:
- 1. For heavily coated products the production cost is less.
- 2. Products can be easily manufactured having the zinc coating on one side, both sides, and as well as being differentially coated.
This paper introduces the characteristics of the Z.V.D. steel sheet product and compares it to products made by the E.G. and the H.D.G. (Hot Dip Galvanized) methods.
