Abstract
Accident data presented indicates the appropriateness and support of the use of the 0° barrier test. From controlled crash tests, relative dummy responses between 30° and 0° barrier tests can be compared. For the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the vehicle manufacturer to use this oblique test to evaluate safety performance of present production vehicles would represent a very significant step toward reducing safety levels.
