Abstract
Expecting the nation-wide motorization to come along with the
Korean economic growth, domestic auto-makers in Korea have been
working on their plan to introduce their reasonably low priced
unique mini cars in around 1987, and they are driving the detailed
development programs of the models in line with governmental
regulations regarding body size, engine volume and seating
capacity.
Korean automobiles have been considerably influenced by Japanese
products in many aspects. In case of mini car, however, considering
the local road condition, usage, nationality and living pattern,
the most desirable features would be a model in combination with
American mini van in style and European mini car in size which is
bigger than current Japanese mini car in body size and total piston
displacement.
In addition, these active movement of mini car development and
hope for the wide use could bear fruit when various tax privileges
are given to mini cars.
