Abstract
The talk describes how and why HP's understanding of quality has changed- what the company has learned as a result of its own experiments and experiences the last few years and how it is putting these best practices to use. It describes HP's definition of TQC (Total Quality Control) and how this definition is being operationalized.
The company has been able to merge TQC with concepts that have always been held in high esteem-Management by Objective (MBO) and the “HP Way.” Current focus is on the eight elements that the company believes are required to successfully institutionalize TQC.
