Abstract
Solid-state signal conditioning and recording techniques have been successfully used to continuously monitor critical diesel engine parameters. The information gained has provided effective protection against catastrophic engine failure, as well as extending the time between overhauls. The cost of the monitoring system can be rapidly recovered through lowered operating cost, particularly in fleet installations.
