Abstract
There are a number of ways Co couple remotely located controls without increasing the current leakage beyond established safe limits. The schemes range from non-conductive push/pull rods to radio or infrared coupling.
This paper deals with three methods which have been reduced to practice and compares the differences relative to installation and cost.
The fiber-optically coupled approach is covered in more detail. How it works, methods for digitally transmitting analog data, selection of input levers and benefits are among the topics discussed.
The principal purpose of this paper is to provide the reader a clearer understanding of the fiber-optic alternative.
