Abstract
Providing the ability of fast response and high traction force, and being a simple construction, a new solenoid actuator has been developed. It is compact and expected to be reliable. This solenoid, named “DISOLE” because of its disk-solenoid shape, makes it possible to obtain such excellent performance as less than 1 milli-second travel time and over 200 newtons force using only passenger car voltage.
Working on this development, the computerized simulation of dynamic behavior including magnetic circuit analysis, the calculations of power consumption and temperature rise, and the armature stress analysis were executed to find the limitations of this solenoid's performance.
