Abstract
This paper outlines two case histories involving mobile forest products slashers, one dealing with a major repair and update of the control systems and the other a relife project following a fire loss. Required production performance and operator environment modifications were detailed in terms of attainable goals. Systems and controls were designed to achieve often conflicting objectives. The repair projects were brought about economic events, which had delayed replacement of the machines in the customary time frame.
