Abstract
Demand for pressure charged automobile engines has grown steadily since the energy crisis. Although turbocharging is ideal for improving the performance and fuel economy of I.C. engines, it has practical limitations for small engines. The paper examines the problems and the potential of mechanically driven systems as alternative form of pressure chargers for small engines.
