Abstract
In predicting the energy absorption by the deformation of vehicle structure during collision through computational method, it is essential for the collapse process of major structural components to be well represented.
An analytical method employing 2-dimensional finite element model is presented in this paper to simulate deformation process and energy absorption in case of the front structure of a vehicle with separate frame and the front and rear structures of a vehicle with unitary construction body.
The feasibility of the proposed method is discussed on comparison of the calculated results with the experimented ones.
