Abstract
Laser anemometer measurements of the air velocity in the prechamber of an automotive diesel engine were made to verify/modify an analytical model of the fluid dynamics and thermodynamics of the combustion cycle.
A special head was constructed to allow optical access to the prechamber volume. The service temperature of this modified head was limited, thus only motoring data was obtained.
