Published January 01, 1982 by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in United States
The obligations incumbent on vehicle development should not be seen in the field of vehicle safety alone. Along with the increase in vehicle safety in the field of accident avoidance and the mitigation of injuries, the requirements in the field of energy saving (manufacturing and operation), the reduction of exhaust gas and noise emission as well as new products and production technologies must be taken into account. In the fields of vehicle safety and accident avoidance, the assessment criteria of the behaviour of vehicles in real crashes and simulated accident tests will have to be reformulated. The VW Auto 2000 research project is a logical continuation of current research. The project is described.
