Abstract
More than 11,000 vehicles have been converted to CNG in the North Island of New Zealand. After setting a target for conversion of 150,000 vehicles by the end of 1985, the Government promulgated a variety of policies including financial incentives to assist the achievement of the target. The paper describes various aspects of the CNG programme, and the difficulties and successes over a two-year period.
