Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe the Fatal Accident Reporting System (FARS), a data system containing information on all fatal accidents that occur in the U.S. It is maintained by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In addition, ways in which users may request data and current publications will be discussed.
