Abstract
A new multidimensional model was evaluated by comparing calculated results with experimental data from a Direct-Injection Stratified-Charge (DISC) engine. Axisymmetric flow, adiabatic walls, and simplified turbulence, ignition and chemistry models were assumed in the model. A gaseous fuel jet was used to simulate the liquid spray in the engine. For variations in spark timing, agreement between model and experiment was good for trends in cylinder pressures, and in HC and NOx emissions.
