Abstract
Land use factors in terms of hazard to flight and land users are important considerations in airport planning and operation. Techniques to identify and describe safety to flight criteria, accident potential, and noise exposure are available and have been used successfully throughout the United States. Operational safety and long term utility of airfields can be greatly enhanced by integrating these factors into an airfield plan that addresses both existing and future land use in the vicinity of airfields.
