Abstract
One of the problems with the introduction of aluminum auto body sheet for hood and deck lid assemblies has been the inspection of the surface for defects. Inspection techniques currently used for steel have not been entirely successful in locating defects on aluminum body sheet. By using a method which controls the illumination intensity, an inspector can much more quickly and easily locate surface defects and panel imperfections.
