The Relationship Between Bolt Load and Leak Rate in a Gasketed Joint

Abstract
A method of testing gaskets for leak rate under varying bolt loads is described. The date, curves and procedures are given for a test to determine the effect of preload on the subsequent leak rate behavior of a joint with an asbestos gasket.
