Abstract
The Ford Dynamic Aeration Test Apparatus is used to evaluate the foaming, air entrainment and air release properties of selected automatic transmission fluids. By this method it is possible to evaluate fluids under conditions which approach those of the automatic transmission operation.
The effects of changes in aeration rate, temperature, pressure and air humidity on the foaming and air entrainment characteristics are evaluated and a rating procedure for automatic transmission fluid behavior is suggested.
