Abstract
The paper reviews existing methods of measuring tread wear and traction and discusses their applicability to tire grading if performed on an indoor facility with a simulated roadway. Indoor testing would assure accurate control of all performance parameters, rapid collection of data, and effective exploration of new test cycles and rating systems.
