Abstract
A brief description is given of the manufacture of hot-dipped galvanized sheets including coating weight designations. Definitions and attributes are presented for the various products available to the consumer. Comments are offered on mechanical properties, weldability and paintability. Corrosion data and experiences are reviewed. Possible improved products and new developments are discussed including alloy additions, composite coatings, and surface treatments.
