Abstract
The paper is a discussion of the limiting of noise and noise-related safety hazards in industry. There are presently four federal laws in effect, designed to protect occupational safety. A fifth law is being considered by Congress which, if passed, should provide additional noise control.
The U.S. Department of Labor has promulgated regulations to limit and control noise. The details of the regulations -- such as sound levels, varied forms of noise, control measures, and protective equipment -- are discussed.
