Abstract
This paper describes the development of cylinder head gaskets to meet the requirements of high-powered super-charged or multifuel diesel engines. The problems discussed relate to such critical factors as material, movements at the sealing surfaces, correlation with engine design, and useful life and dependability. These factors and others are carefully applied to the final metal gasket product, the use of which is proving to be wholly satisfactory in diesel engine operation.
