Abstract
Abrasive wear, pertaining to the internal combustion engine, has been the subject of numerous technical investigations, papers, and articles. The majority of these presentations are in the area of filtration and the prevention of excessive or abnormal wear. Maintenance men must learn to determine if abrasive wear is present and then take corrective measures.
This paper is intended to aid mechanics in identifying abrasive wear from a practical standpoint and in applying the proper remedy.
