Abstract
Combining hydraulic systems into a single unit in utility vehicles gives the buyer the advantage of reduced original equipment cost, reduced maintenance cost, and a reduction in installation problems. In years past each specific piece of equipment mounted on a truck had its own hydraulic unit as each supplier was protecting his self-interest with the particular item he sold.
As mentioned in the paper, a specific field adaptation has performed quite well on a 36,000 lb gvw combined snow plow and maintenance unit. In addition to the cost savings which can amount to $1000 in some instances, the added factors of ease of maintenance, dependability, and simplicity are benefits which are difficult to place a value on.
