Abstract
This paper describes the use of tooth contact analysis (TCA) to minimize the time required to develop desired tooth contact patterns on spiral bevel gears. The application of TCA to the development of a gear set is demonstrated. Also described is the use of TCA to study the effects of various design parameters on the tooth contact pattern, with particular emphasis on the choice of cutter diameter.
