Abstract
Operational research procedures are, in general, not applicable to the development of cross-country vehicles because the vehicle-environmental relationships are not well enough understood and the environmental information has not yet been gathered. Model tests are proposed to overcome partially these difficulties and for other purposes where calculations or full-scale tests are not practical.
A description of a few model programs and abstracts of their results are presented as examples.
