Abstract
For 75 years there has been fruitless sporadic activity in efforts to resolve our unit-system chaos and confusion. There now appears some progress, however, toward effecting a solution in this difficult and controversial area. One reason for past lack of action may be due to the single-purpose solution of enthusiasts advocating complete changeover to the metric system for the United States, notwithstanding the many problems involved and the possibilities of gradual evolution toward adoption of a new system. The arguments on both sides of the question are dealt with, and a number of steps proposed for realistically attacking the problem.
